v-day pick: no. 6

I'm simply nuts about Anna Bond's signature floral illustrations. The identity that she created for Bonnie Tsang's photography business is one of my favorite examples of her floral work. Her newly launched stationery company, Rifle Paper Co. showcases Anna's amazing talents. Above is a pick from the Valentine collection - more here.

Post Edit:
The ever-lovely Gabby, of Gabby She Wrote, just reminded me that my readers may be wondering where V-Day picks numbers 1-4 are... Excellent question! You can find my 2009 picks by clicking the "LOVE" label at the bottom of this post.

v-day pick: no. 5

{up up creative's 'crazy love card two'}

{up up creative's 'crazy love card six'}

{up up creative's 'crazy love card eight'}

I'm a big fan of Up Up Creative's designs. I purchased one of their modern printable recipe cards last month and it was a such a hit! There's a series of eight in this vein and they're all nothing short of awesome. These cards passed my personal "laugh out loud" test. You know you want read the rest, check them out here.

the 2010 valentine card swap is here!

Earlier this month, I posted an offhand tweet about the idea of organizing a Valentine card swap. I was a bit surprised when I received a good amount of replies from bloggers and tweeters that were game. I quite love the idea of turning an occasion that many people dread, into something that fills our mailboxes with paper goodness!

Let me just say, I'm in the business of supporting and spreading the word about amazing indie designers. So, if you have the choice between a Hallmark card or a card from your local letterpress printer I humbly encourage you to choose the latter! If you need help finding great shops near you, that sell cards from talented independent designers - please feel free to email me. There's always Etsy too!

+ Swap is open to US & Canadian residents only, as I'm afraid we're cutting it a bit too close for our friends abroad.

paper schmaper's gocco goodness

{gocco 'balloon girl' card}

{gocco 'carnival' card}

{gocco 'glee' card}

I have a total card crush on Paper Schmaper! I love the element of whimsy in their cards and the photo styling absolutely receives extra credit. Paper Schmaper also pens a lovely, paper-centric blog. I always find something to drool over when visiting.

announcing: the gratitude campaign

Thank you notes are important to me. For the most part, I'm pretty good about sending them for the obvious occasions. One of my personal resolutions this year is to send more - and not just when they're expected. Perhaps, a note to one of my favorite servers, who always remembers us, even though we only visit Southern Oregon a few times a year. Or, maybe a little 'thank you' to the massage therapist that went 15 minutes over my allotted time. You've got to admit it's a winning situation for everyone involved.

So here's the idea...

The last week of each month in 2010, I'll post a giveaway offering two boxes of 'thank you' cards from two different designers. A comment to enter, any old comment - I want to make it easy and accessible for people to get involved. Two winners announced the following week. The inaugural post for January will feature boxed notes from Two Trick Pony and Egg Press. Are you loving it so far? If so, please spread the word!
