{2010 national stationey show} newcomer: wild pulp

Wild Pulp made their debut at the Stationery Show this year. It's always such a pleasure to discover a company that's doing something new. I was really taken by their designs and don't know how I managed to walk away without snapping a photo of the 'weave a dream' series. Artist, Christopher Smith, hand constructs and photographs the beautiful nests featured on these cards.

So maybe it's a wee bit early in the year to start talking 2011 calendars, but I simply can't help myself. The Stationery Show always get me salivating over next years calendar and I know I'm not the only bonafide junky out there. I didn't get a chance to photograph Linda & Harriett's lovely new release, but that is definitely another one to keep your eye on.

Another must see at the National Stationery Show: Stewart/Stand. I can't wait to check out these gorgeous pieces in person. I think their modern wallets have Father's Day written all over them and I love their clutches...

Retailers can mention "Crow and Canary" to receive free freight on wholesale orders written at the show. Enjoy!

{2010 national stationery show} pre-show picks

I know that all of my fellow paperistas are bursting at the seams (thanks again to Katy for coining the term paperista) in anticipation of the National Stationery Show. The show is in NYC every May and showcases some of the latest and greatest designs in the industry. Last year I blogged quite a bit during the show and plan to do the same this year - after all, it is one of the biggest events in the paper world!

Looking forward to reconnecting with old friends and discovering some lovely new lines. I promise I'll be keeping you all posted. Please feel free to leave a comment if I missed a great company that will be exhibiting at the show!

creative crush: daily calligrapher

There's something about the art of calligraphy that's captured my attention from a young age. My grandmother dabbled in it and I remember the joy of watching her address envelopes followed with her signature Fleur-de-Lis wax seal. Currently, I've begun a pen pal correspondence with the lovely and talented Grace Edmands. Her work is exquisite and every time I see her handwriting in my mailbox, I can't help but grin.

The magic of Twitter recently lead me to Daily Calligraphy. Lila shares a range of quotes that she's written in different styles. The quotes are a great mix of hilarious, inspiring, plain silly and of course a few classics thrown in for good measure. She's recently started selling her work in the Daily Calligraphy Etsy shop at very reasonable prices. I had to order two myself, including one of my favorite Martin Luther King quotes above.

show some love...

This week I've been in mad prep mode - assembling cards, making signs and packaging for my new line Squirrel Loves Nut. It's making its official debut at Unique LA next week! Megan, of Ghost Academy fame, and I are sharing a booth. I'm definitely hoping to meet some Southern California dwelling blog and twitter friends at the show, hint, hint.

One of my favorite stationers, Margaret of Paper Pastries, will also be there peddling her wares. She had an ingenious idea to decorate her booth with mail - specifically cute postcards that read: "I love Paper Pastries in several languages. She's asking fellow paperistas to print out one of the postcards and send it back to her before April 23rd. You can read more about this project and download free postcards here.
