covetable chronicle:
botanical garland by rifle paper co.

I'm rather excited to share another giveaway from Chronicle Books! Today we have a set of Botanical Garlands designed by Rifle Paper Co. I love this concept, as it's reusable and you don't have to stick to just standard greetings. I for one, would make a banner that read "Oh Happy Day" with this fun little kit. Rifle has partnered with Chronicle for several brilliant collaborations, I am quite fond of the entire Botanicals series and have gotten much use out of the labels & stickers.

To enter the giveaway:
Head over to the Crow & Canary Facebook page and like or comment on the Chronicle giveaway post at the top of the page. Really, that's all. I will randomly choose one winner the afternoon of Friday, 11/2/12 and announce it on the C&C Facebook page.

gratitude campaign {thanksgiving edition}

I'll just come out and say it, I've really fallen behind on my monthly 'Gratitude Campaign' posts. I've been feeling guilty and decided that the impending Thanksgiving in the US would be the perfect opportunity to make up for my negligence.

My first offering is a simple thanks for reading this little blog. Being self-employed and often working from home, I really take comfort and delight in the connections I make via blogging and tweeting. I have a healthy group of people that I count as friends made through these avenues. So... thank you for taking the time to read and connect with me on some level, it really means more than I can express.

Now, getting to the goody giveaway part of the post!

The mister and I have a tradition of writing down what we're thankful for each and every Thanksgiving, it's something that I really enjoy reflecting on and thought it would be the perfect question to pose for entry.

To enter to win:

|| Please leave a comment answering the following:
What are you currently thankful for in your life?

|| Anonymous comments will be disqualified.

|| Giveaway is open through Friday, December 3, 2010 at 11:59 PST.
Winner will be chosen by random.org and announced Monday, December 6th.

|| One comment per person, unless... Hey, want an extra chance to win?
Blog, tweet and/or facebook about our giveaway and post an additional comment(s) with the link.

One lucky winner will receive the thank you card set from Hammerpress, one winner will receive the set from Snow & Graham, one winner will receive the set from Ghost Academy and one winner will receive the assorted 'grab bag' from our archives. Best of luck!

creative crush: daily calligrapher

There's something about the art of calligraphy that's captured my attention from a young age. My grandmother dabbled in it and I remember the joy of watching her address envelopes followed with her signature Fleur-de-Lis wax seal. Currently, I've begun a pen pal correspondence with the lovely and talented Grace Edmands. Her work is exquisite and every time I see her handwriting in my mailbox, I can't help but grin.

The magic of Twitter recently lead me to Daily Calligraphy. Lila shares a range of quotes that she's written in different styles. The quotes are a great mix of hilarious, inspiring, plain silly and of course a few classics thrown in for good measure. She's recently started selling her work in the Daily Calligraphy Etsy shop at very reasonable prices. I had to order two myself, including one of my favorite Martin Luther King quotes above.

In giveaway news, I've been a rather bad blogger and am announcing the Paper Bullet winner a bit later than anticipated.

Congratulations to Piddix, who quite favored the "Kiss Me Over and Over" watercolor. Many thanks to Lisa for sponsoring the giveaway.

crayon-tastic

{images via klimt02}

I am totally taken with Maria Cristina Bellucci's unique line of jewelry devised almost entirely of colored pencils. I truly love all of the designs!

In rather tardy news, my apologies for my absence in announcing the lucky owner of this print, I have a winner to declare.

And, the winner of the Bittersugar letterpress print is...
Michaela of Dolce Vita! Here's what she had to say about her favorite city:

my favorite place to visit- hands down in Italy. It is why my blog is called Dolce Vita. The summer i was 19 i walked hand in hand with a beautiful boy called Francesco. The summer of my life. He broke my heart but it was all worth it and Italy will always be the sweetest place on earth, even still.

Have a safe and Happy New Year! Back tomorrow with details on my 2010 gratitude campaign, it just happens to involve 24 glorious card giveaways...

goody giveaway no. 9

It's been a long spell since I posted a giveaway and I'm super excited to tell you about this one. Nik Bresnick of Bittersugar is kindly offering one reader a 5x7 letterpress print of the Seattle Space Needle. Perfect for framing, the 3-color image is printed on Cranes Lettra 110 pound all-cotton pearl white paper (just a little info for the paper/printmaking geeks).

Portland peeps may want to take a moment to check out Bittersugar's limited edition print of the Saint John's Bridge, one of our city's beloved landmarks. So, so beautiful...

narcissism be thy name.

{card by wiley valentine}

I usually shy away from talking up my birthday. I've never been much of a party planner and more often than not, let things just play out naturally. Which can sometimes turn out a bit, well... lackluster. My birthday is this upcoming Saturday, August the 22nd and I've decided to not only make a big deal about it in this little blog, but to give someone else the opportunity to score some schwag in the honor of my big (or historically speaking, not so big) day.

The rest of the week I'm going to be featuring birthday cards I'd love to give or receive. And of course details on the big birthday booty giveaway. It's gonna be a doozy...

bring on the funny

Blue Barnhouse is the newest addition to the Crow and Canary collection and I'm super excited to have their handmade wit join the ranks. Currently, my favorite card from BBH is the middle image: and that's when I said: "Martha Stewart, you're just Kmart trash." I laugh every time I read that sucker.

Interested in winning a $50 gift certificate for the Blue Barnhouse shop? Of course you are, it's super easy. Just tweet this for your entry, before July 9th:

{amazing talking paintings by j. richel}

The Curiousity Shoppe has gotten much love in the blog world and deservedly so, I simply can't help but add some fuel to the fire. They really have the most unique assortment of art and gifts, I challenge you to browse their shop, online or in person, and not buy just a little something. I was especially taken by all the everyday objects reimagined in porcelain. I gained a few additions to my bulging printer's boxes. The owners, and all around craft-tastic couple, Lauren and Derek recently released Wallpaper Projects a must read for design enthusiasts and wallpaper junkies alike.
